Training for Tomorrow event – Training Regulations Review
The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) is launching its Training for Tomorrow 2014 stakeholder engagement programme with four roadshows in London, Birmingham, Sheffield, and Manchester starting at the end of January.
The events will provide an opportunity to discuss the SRA’s proposals for simplifying the regulation of the SRA’s Education and Training Framework as outlined in the current Regulation Review consultation. The consultation is open for comments until 25 February.Delegates at the events, which run from 5-7 pm and will be CPD accredited, will hear a presentation on the proposals, followed by an opportunity for discussion and questions and answers.

Julie Brannan, the SRA’s Director for Education and Training, said: “The aim of this consultation is to seek views on our proposals, which involve stating our training and education regulations in plain and clear terms, removing unnecessary and artificial requirements and processes, but retaining what is essential to secure high standards.
“The roadshows will provide an opportunity also to discuss. the wider aims of the Training for Tomorrow programme – to develop a definition of what a competent solicitor looks like, how we ensure solicitors’ competence at the point of qualification and on an ongoing basis, and how and where the responsibility for ensuring ongoing competence of solicitors best fits within the SRA’s regulatory framework.
