Future Stars Programme

What is the Future Stars Programme?

Manchester Law Society’s Educational Foundation Trust is thrilled to introduce its new Future Stars Programme.  This is a brand-new Programme to support people wishing to enter the legal profession in the Manchester, Salford and surrounding areas, by offering practical and financial support.  No prior legal experience or qualifications are required – just a keen interest in the law and a genuine commitment to a future career in law.

The Programme will admit up to 10 Future Stars annually who may otherwise find it difficult to enter the legal profession as a result of financial or other disadvantages.

The Programme will provide access to:

  • Building Relationships by meeting local lawyers and legal professionals and gaining experience in local law firms and barristers’ chambers
  • Training in a variety of areas such as interview techniques, practical law skills and beyond
  • Mentoring provided by lawyers in the Manchester/Salford area
  • Support throughout the programme, including practical and financial support for things like travel costs, workwear, IT provisions and text books

Eligibility

The Future Stars Programme is designed for those living in the Manchester, Salford or surrounding areas and who have a genuine interest in a career in the law. Applicants will need to demonstrate a need for practical and / or financial support in progressing their future career in the law, together with a genuine commitment to pursuing a career in the law.

Successful applicants will be entitled to apply for financial support from the Education Trust throughout the duration of their education, which can be used, by way of example, towards travel costs, workwear, IT provisions and textbooks.

The Programme will also entitle successful applicants to a broad range of hands-on experience through individual mentoring, training programmes and exposure to law firms and barristers’ chambers. The Programme is, however, designed to provide successful applicants with the best chance at success and will therefore be tailored to each individual as appropriate.
