Review of Youth Court Locations in Lancashire, consultation paper

The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) and Her Majesty’s Courts and Tribunal Service (HMCTS) are considering whether the provision of Youth Court services should be maintained at the present level, given that there has been a reduction in this type of business listed in Lancashire in recent years.

By reducing the existing number of Youth Court venues from eleven to six, the limited resources of HMCTS, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), the Lancashire Constabulary and Youth Offending Teams (YOTs) could be better utilised, whilst ensuring that there is no reduction in the quality of service that is currently being provided. Such rationalisation is being considered as part of a continuing review of such arrangements.
