SRA Continuing Competence Consultation
On 22 April the SRA launched a consultation on proposals to strengthen its approach to continuing competence, marking the most significant potential change to the post qualification learning framework since mandatory CPD hours were abolished in 2016. The consultation runs for 12 weeks, closing on 15 July.
Purpose-Driven Partnerships: Supporting Law Firms and the Planet
Stress Awareness Month and Earth Day, both observed in April, offer a timely reminder for law firms to reflect not only on wellbeing within their teams, but also on the wider impact of their operations. For many legal professionals, the pressure of deadlines, compliance, and client demands can feel relentless. Finding trusted partners who can genuinely reduce that burden is no longer a luxury – it’s essential.
Escrow isn’t just for M&A
There’s an assumption in the legal market that the use of an escrow is the preserve of large, complex M&A transactions. It is..but also it isn’t, and that assumption means firms are leaving a genuinely useful tool on the shelf.
Escrow is simply a mechanism where a regulated third party holds funds until agreed conditions are met. That logic applies across a far wider range of transactions than most firms reach for and can protect in more scenarios than just a big business sale.
Turning Environmental Complexity into Clarity
Environmental and sustainability considerations are now central to decision‑making across the legal, property and investment sectors. As regulation tightens and expectations rise, the challenge organisations face is no longer a lack of information, but how to interpret it with confidence. Making the wrong call on environmental risk can have significant legal, financial and reputational consequences.
This is where Professional Services plays a critical role.

Navigating the minefield of legal technology investment
Modern law firms are investing more in technology than ever before, with Miller’s 2025 benchmarking report revealing that IT spend now often exceeds Professional Indemnity Insurance costs in larger firms. This reflects a shift towards digital solutions, most recently including those incorporating AI.
Cyber Risk Management with Mitigo: Protecting Law Firms from Cyber Threats
Law firms are attractive targets for cybercriminals. The combination of confidential client information, financial data and sensitive case material makes legal practices valuable to attackers. When incidents occur, the consequences can be significant – disrupting fee-earning work, exposing client information and damaging client trust.
While many firms invest in IT support and security tools, cyber risk is not purely a technical issue. It is a business risk that affects operations, reputation and regulatory obligations, and requires clear oversight from an independent specialist.
