Giving Back: The Impact Behind Our Team
Part of the philosophy behind being a B Corp accredited business is about wider stakeholder engagement and community involvement.
Of course, what better represents that than volunteering?
We recently asked our team to share the volunteering and community activities they are involved in.
The response was inspiring.
Across the business, colleagues are giving their time in ways that truly matter. Supporting elderly and isolated individuals through initiatives like Age Support, volunteering with Citizens Advice Bureau and NYAS, and helping at local churches and community events – from litter picks to Christmas lunches for older residents.
Others are supporting Armed Forces veterans as they adjust to civilian life, offering guidance and signposting to those managing complex mental health challenges and life-changing injuries.
Community-building is another common thread. One team member started a neighbourhood WhatsApp group that has grown to nearly 100 residents and now serves as a Neighbourhood Watch Officer, helping keep their local area connected and informed.
Sport also plays a big role. From Portland United Football Club to Ilkeston Swimming Club, colleagues are coaching, mentoring, photographing matches and creating inclusive spaces for people of all ages and abilities.
For some, volunteering is deeply personal. One colleague raises funds for the RNLI, having experienced firsthand the dedication of its volunteer crews. Another began their journey at Battersea Dogs Home, later organising wildlife events for a local nature charity, and now supports their community in Knutsford through church events and fundraising initiatives.
As they shared:
“Volunteering gives me the opportunity to connect with people, animals and nature and contribute, however I can, to make even the smallest difference.”
Crucially, flexibility plays a part. As one team member put it:
“Even just a couple of hours a week can make a real difference.”
That’s what being a B Corp is about. Not just standards on paper — but real, human impact.
And it’s something we’re incredibly proud of.
